Abstract

[fr] This paper presents a descriptive analysis based on the case study of the N.P.O. (Non Profit Organisation) Duo for a Job. This organisation proposes an intergenerational mentoring program for young job seekers from immigrant families. This innovating idea is based on the two-sided observation that, on the one hand, the unemployment rate for young people from immigration is one of the highest in Europe and, on the other hand, the people over 50 years old also have an inactivity rate higher than the European mean.

This study proposes the analysis of the creation process of a social innovation in the region of Brussels. The concept of social innovation will be discussed in the literature review by focusing on the firsts phases of its cycle. Starting from the acknowledgment of a social need, what will be the opportunities discovered by a social entrepreneur? In this matter, the traits of character and skills that a social entrepreneur will need to use will be discussed.

On the case study basis, the question of the emergence of an organisation in the sector of social economy will be addressed. We will discover that various crucial factors will be necessary. Firstly, an explanation will be given on the finance research. Secondly, we will outline how the social entrepreneurs have succeeded in creating a partnership network among the associative sector and the engagements it means. Thirdly, the social innovation enables the involvement of various stakeholders from the public or private sector. Fourthly, the social economy has the advantage of being able to enlist an unpaid workforce. We will analyse the outcomes of this opportunity.
