Abstract

[en] This paper deals with the internal restructuring of workflows and key functions of the
company Stahl-und Apparatebau Huppertz AG.
The company Stahl-und Apparatebau Huppertz AG is a family business which was found in
1959. Huppertz Ag is active in the sector of metal construction and surface treatment. The
company works as a supplier and therefore does not produce its own products but
manufactures individual goods on customer demand.
During the years, the company grew steadily in size as well as in workers. In 2019, the
construction of an additional production hall of 5000m² is going to be finalized and the
company questions itself about their current way of working. Due to the additional surface
available, the company wants to evaluate how this space can be used in the most effective
way and how the workers around can be managed in order to sustain the business.
The key challenges treated in this thesis concern the production workflow as well as the
function of the key employees and workers.
The methodologies used in order to answer the questions at stake are:
- Interview
- Expert group/ project team
The procedure, participants and the data gathered during the interview and the consulting of
the expert group is explained in the following section.
The next section describes the analysis as well as the results gained thanks to the
methodologies applied. The summary highlights the main finding of the analysis: The
company lacks in clearly defined storage area as well as in clearly defined roles und
functions.
The last section of the thesis highlights the main recommendations which need to be included
in the company’s actions plan for the future.
The company does not have to be reinvented but current processes have to be adapted to the
new standards.
